In Character Information
Name: Jade Lalonde (the Witch of Light, chumhandle: grimmstaleGadgeteer)
Series: Homestuck
Age: 13 Years Old
Birthday & Astrology Sign: December 4th | Saggitarius
Arcana: Moon
AU Backstory:
Jade Lalonde crash-landed in a lake in Upstate New York on December 4. She was picked up by one Mom Lalonde and raised in a beautiful house that was created over a river, a proper little girl within the confines of good society. She didn't have many friends as a child -- most of the other kids thought her odd, since she was obsessed with mechanical pieces. Her Mother seemed to encourage it, though she also encouraged the reading of fairy tales, something that Jade took to readily. Her favorites were those with unhappy endings -- Grimm's Fairy Tales were the best, though her Mother continually antagonized her, calling her 'princess' and telling her that all the happy endings were better. This led to a sort of rift between Jade and her mother, one that was never completely repaired -- to this day, Mom still calls her 'princess,' something that Jade holds a good bit of ire towards.
As she grew older, Jade began to seek the companionship of people online. First she met a boy named John Strider -- gamersTrenchant, an annoying boy who liked to mock fairy tales on online forums, something which sparked a rivalry between the two. As Jade kept talking to him, she was introduced to Rose Harley -- transcendantTopiary -- and Dave Egbert -- trustworthyGallant -- through a series of conversations. Eventually, she was obsessed with talking to her friends, sending them gifts and using their words as a springboard for her own actions. She sold her wooden cello for an electronic one due to John's dare that she had to do something her Mother would hate (and she did seem displeased, at least for a little while). She also began watching classic (nostalgic) science fiction television shows, becoming a little bit ecstatic over them to the point that her fairy tales were replaced by mechanical models of science worlds, created out of steel underneath her lofted bed. In this "nerd fort" as John called it, Jade shunned her Mother's obsession with princesses and happy endings, constructing her own worlds to play in as she pleased. World-building became a sort of hobby for her, and when she heard about the game SBURB she jumped at the chance to try it, despite not being very good at video games, nor very knowledgeable.
But then no one wanted to play.
Well, more like this: Rose didn't know what it was all that well, John thought it was too "lame" (stupid cool kids), and Dave's copy was lost in the mail somewhere. It wasn't until 4/13, Dave's birthday, that Jade finally got to play with him. And then what at first had seemed like a glorious world-building game that controlled the actual world became something a little more serious. Especially when meteors started falling out of the sky, straight towards Dave's house. It was a quick squeeze to get him to safety, requiring the pulling of a sword from a stone -- before he disappeared into a mysterious land called The Land of Heat and Wind, a desert wasteland with frequent sandstorms.
But by then, Jade herself was in trouble.
You know the general gist -- Jade was helped into The Land of Frost and Light by John, who was then helped by Rose to enter the Medium and take his place in the Land of Shade and Clockwork. Dave then assisted Rose to get into the Land of Rain and Frogs. Jade, through some investigation, realized that their session was doomed from the start -- there was no way for them to win. She became determined to make it work anyway, scrabbling through what she could find and enlisting the help of Aradia, a troll who had taken a personal interest in the kids' session, in particularly Jade's own quest. After a dreamself merger (by way of the doomed Jade, from Johnsprite's timeline) -- Jade finally awoke on Prospit, and all she saw was horrors in the clouds. All she knew, was that the clouds had to be wrong. They showed everyone dead -- John, Rose, Dave, and even herself, more than once. And Jade knew that she couldn't let that happen.
So of course, the correct response to finding out that a horrible monster of a creature called Bec Noir was descending on everyone she loved, killing them, meant that she had to take action. Jade had been told when she awoke on Prospit that the clouds were dangerous; no dreamers should be allowed to stay outside during the eclipse. The visions were too disorienting. After talking to a mysterious source (named Doc Scratch) about the powers of a Witch of Light, Jade realized that she needed to think fast -- and after watching both Dave (who was god tier at this point, though she didn't quite understand that) and her Mom die, Jade took action. Using the manipulative powers of the Witch class, she borrowed the fortune of Skaia and its seeing powers to go what would essentially be the Prospit-version of Grimdark, and flew off to challenge Jack Noir personally, in an attempt to take him down.
AU Differences:
- Jade is now raised by Mom instead of by Grandpa + Bec!
- Her birthday is December 4th; she has purple eyes instead of green ones and grew up in a house full of pretend passive aggression, which means her relationship with her guardian (while relatively good overall) is more strained than before.
- Most of the events up to a point closely follow canon, from the creation of the Crapsack Timeline to the kids' canon deaths. However, Bec Noir is now composed of both Bec and a horrorterror plant grown by Rose Harley and imbued with the power of the elder gods. (Which basically means...Jack is EVEN MORE POWERFUL THAN BEFORE!!! With even more tentacles!)
- Instead of waking up on Prospit way before the session, Jade is now the one that only wakes up after her merge with her doomed dreamself from the Crapsack Timeline. She is also the one to record MEOW on her walls.
- Her land is now the Land of Frost and Light.
- She is the Witch of Light, instead of Space. (Her friends are: Heir of Time, Knight of Breath, Seer of Space.)
- Jade's font is purple, and her chumhandle is different; grimmstaleGadgeteer instead of gardenGnostic.
- Jade's interests have changed slightly: her interest in mechanics and science has gone up a level, while her interest in cute, silly things like squiddles has gone down just a bit. She likes them, but she isn't completely silly like before. Think of her more as a squiddle mad scientist than a gardening dabbler!
- Her friends have changed guardians: they are now John Strider, Dave Egbert, and Rose Harley.
- The trolls are also swapped, too: Jade's patron is Aradia, who is a jadeblood. The new order (mutant - high royalty) is now...

Canon Standing: Immediately before challenging Jack Noir to fight.
Personality:
(This should describe how your character interacts with others and how he or she feels about certain things and situations. This takes a look into the heart and soul of your character, and it will help us understand him/her. Try and flesh this character out as much as you can to show that you really understand them. A good way to divide this section up would be: usual moods, interaction with others, and interactions with friends.)
Key Personality Differences:
(Only fill this out if it applies; but list the main differences IN PERSONALITY of the character in canon standing vs your AU/Game Transplanet. Anything from - Is a lot happier to - Forgets about dates more often to -Is Actually a Clone of the charcter with their memories but doesn't know.)
Canon Powers:
• Basic Light powers: Jade can slightly influence the fortune of other people/objects by exerting magical force over it, much like Jade Harley can manipulate matter. However, because she is pre-god tier, these powers are still relatively untapped and a little bit uncontrollable, like John and the windy thing prior to ascension. (Classification: Light)
Canon Weapons|Items:
(Same deal, list any weapon they might have and elemental subsets they might have.)
Canon Baggage:
(List approximately what the character will be bringing with them. You are allowed one large item that is iconicly associated with them (so pilots could bring their robot, batman could bring his car). Mods have the final say on what you bring, but for the most part we will be alright. Just keep in mind you are living in a 1 1/2 apartment. Without parking.
This being said, you are allowed to bring in your character's robots. There is just no parking for it right now.)
